Located in the charming town of Ruthin, The Star Bistro is an inviting restaurant that expertly blends history and culinary artistry. Nestled at 55 Clwyd St, this bistro is housed in a cozy space that's rich in character, making it the perfect spot for enjoying a delightful meal.
The ambiance of The Star Bistro is warm and welcoming, encouraging diners to relax and indulge. While some patrons have noted a limited selection of beers, the culinary offerings more than compensate for it. With a diverse main menu, diners can explore a variety of dishes, while the "two for £15" option provides a fantastic value for those looking for something tasty yet affordable.
Guest reviews highlight the kitchen's commitment to quality. For instance, Glynne Williams praised the food's excellence and noted that even the smaller portions of the deal provided more than enough to satisfy. Genesta Ann shared her delightful experience with the meticulously cooked Seabass and the indulgent Hazelnut Crème Brulee, mentioning the accommodating staff who ensured her dietary needs were met.
Another patron, Ben Lockey, appreciated the friendly and attentive service, noting the deliciously priced offerings that made for a memorable evening meal. It's evident that the family-friendly atmosphere, combined with well-executed dishes, creates a dining experience that keeps guests returning.
Notably, The Star Bistro has recently undergone a transformation into more of a tapas bar, leaning towards a dining experience rather than a traditional pub. As Matt Waring remarked, the variety of dishes served is impressive, with a collection of 18 unique tapas enjoyed over two nights, illustrating the chef Blue's knack for crafting remarkable flavors. For potential diners, it's essential to keep in mind that The Star Bistro has a limited operating schedule, closed Sunday and Monday, but open for lunch and dinner throughout the week, allowing for ample opportunities to sample its offerings.
In conclusion, The Star Bistro is more than just a dining locale; it's a hidden gem in Ruthin that promises a journey of flavors wrapped in hospitality. Whether you choose a casual meal or indulge in tapas with friends, this bistro beckons with its culinary delights and inviting atmosphere, making it a worthwhile stop on any visit to the area.

Brilliant little pub with a long history, cosy surroundings, poor selection of beers at the bar but plenty alternatives, food very good with two menus to chose, main menu varied prices or two for £15.00, both good but smaller portions on the offer, however there was plenty to eat on the 2 for 15. Great Pub good food and tasty.

My sister and I visited The Star on Friday night and had a meal here, it was well cooked, my sister had fish and chips, and I had The Seabass, followed by the Hazlenut Crème Brulee. It was cooked how I liked it, as I have an allergy to Garlic. Well worth the money. and we shall be returning there soon.

Just stopped for an evening meal on our flying visit to Ruthin. I must admit to being a bit put off by the music when we first entered, but once inside it wasn't loud at all. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the food was well priced and delicious. Couldn't have asked for more!

Don't be put off by Google's Street View photo, this pub is very much open, and well worth a visit if in Ruthin - Have stayed here for a night, and had lunch on another couple of occasions - all great, friendly staff, good food (generous portions), excellent value. UPDATE - this is now a tapas bar, but leaning more towards offering a dining experience rather than a pub with food - it's great, Blue (yes, he is the chef), offers a wide range of dishes, over 2 nights we have tried around 18 and not a bad one to be had - worth booking as this place is shut Sunday and Monday, only open Tuesday evening, then lunch (12-3 pm) & evening (6-11pm) Wednesday to Friday, then all day Saturday - go, it's great.
